HD200 problem or misunderstanding

I've recently added two HD200's to my setup (all gig attached and they work quite nicely and were simple to setup). The one thing I can't seem to figure out is if I reboot the main Sage system or restart the service, the HD200's don't reconnect unless I pull the power and plug it back in (I notice that the red light isn't on after the service restart). I'm assuming this isn't normal so how do I get them to auto reconnect after the main system restarts?

Mike

Can't you just hit the power button on the remote?

Well they are normally running and set to auto connect. I just found that if I restart the service, the red light goes off. I think I've figured it out (just press the power button on the extender and it connects back up so no need to pull the power out all the time).

Sometimes mine will connect just fine, and other times they just sit there with the light blinking. That's probably those times when I try to fire up with extender before the service has finished setting up the server enough to be "broadcasting".

In those instances and like yours, you can just flip the power switch on the back of the machine off/on, which may be easier than trying to unplug it. Or another option is to his the HOME button on the remote instead of the power button. That tells the extender to go through a more extensive power up and basically seems to work pretty much the same as powering off/unplugging the unit.

I have a HD-100 and see a similar situation. If the SageTV service is stopped for any reason (ie manually or due to a reboot, etc), the extender drops its connection. The extender needs to have its power cycled in order for it to search out and reconnect to the server again.

The autoconnect feature works when you turn the power on to the extender, but it doesn't automatically sense a connection issue and try to reestablish it. At least this has been my experience with an HD-100. Obviously the HD-200 might be different, but I suspect it works the same way.

Hadn't tried the home button. I'll try that the next time I need to.
