HD200 TV Playback Problem
Has anyone else had a problem with playing back TV on their HD200 extender? I have been using mine for about 2 weeks with no big issues, and last night I left the room to go do something right at the end of playing back a recorded Colbert Report and when I came back and tried to watch the next show it hung for a little bit, then the progress bar started running but the playback was just a black screen, no picture, no sound or anything. I could still use all the commands and pull up the progress bar and apparently it thought it was playing because it kept counting up.
I am running S-video out to an SD TV right now, and Analog audio. The server is running Beta v6.5.6.200. It is a 2.2Ghz Athlon XP with 1.5GB Ram and 4 ATA100 hard drives. I tried to just restart the extender first by turning the power on and off, that didn't work. Next tried to restart the server computer, that didn't work. Finally had to do a reset on the extender, which cleared the problem. Not sure what happened, as in the extender I could still navigate all the menus, change settings and delete shows etc...but playback was just a blank screen. On the server I could actually watch the shows so it didn't seem to be a problem there. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem, and thought I would share my results. Thanks. |

My TV files are Cable QAM HD files recorded to the Sage server from a HDHomeRun unit. They playback fine on the SageTV server using the SageTV app. They playback fine on the SageTV server using Windows Media Player or MPC player. They also playback fine using the HD200 in Standalone mode, which proves the HD200 has the ability to play them. However, having to use standalone mode and manually mark programs watched on the server before watching them is VERY clunky and has a WAF of almost 0. However, it is the only way I have of watching recorded TV with my Sage Extender bundle Attempting to playback these SAME TV files using the HD200 in Extender mode results in a blank screen and no audio (but just like you the progress bar and pause, skip, etc works). I encourage you to contact SageTV support, so they have another data-point to track the issue down. Last edited by FreshOne; 01-24-2009 at 02:22 PM. |

I will open up a support request if it becomes a consistent problem, but so far with my setup, it has only happened the one time. And as I said, a reset of the extender as described in the manual fixed this issue. I also just recently updated to the newest beta software v6.5.7, so not sure if that has made a difference with this issue.
