HDHomerun + Linux + 6.6.2 HELP with EPG
I decided create a SageTV Media Center on a Linux server and have the my SageTV Media Center for Windows access it instead. So I bought an HDHomerun because my existing cards were not compatible...
Problem: I connect to the running Linux SageTV server and configure the HDHomerun receivers. After scanning, more then half of my OTA channel names don't match Zip2It. The "improved" EPG remapping menus of 6.6.2 don't let me rename the channels names. What do I do? How do you rename the Channels for Zip2It? The manual doesn't explain this. PS: I use the HDHomeRun Setup under windows but that doesn't do anything... -Zak |

In the SageTV PDF manual, see "Remapping Stations for EPG data using ATSC or QAM Digital Tuners" on p. 166.

I see now. There is a defect here. The interface lists the station names in ID sort order by default. This causes the user to assume the Zap2It channel is missing from the list.
Example: My channel is KDKA 2 and I need it to be KDKADT (from looking at Zap2It). I first only saw KDKA-DT because it looked like it was in alphabetical order. I had to scroll way down to find the correct one. The manual mistakenly assumes this can help: "Zap2it stations have IDs greater than or equal to 10,000" Such a sentence is useless to a user since it requires him to understand the relation between name and ID. Why should a user care about ID when he/she wants to choose the correct channel name? Surely something so basic to the configuration of SageTV should be simple especially since it's been recently rewritten. I realize that I've been bit by this many times in the past. Because this is a high visibility item, please fix this defect by sorting the station names alphabetically. You should probably remove the use of ID all together, it's a poor way of pushing the problem on the user. Why not parse the Zap2It data on your servers and figure out the mapping for us automatically? |
