Silliness: How many layers of tape and what kind on HD-PVR
I have 2 layers of black electrical tape and 1 layer of black duct tape.
I would have gone with one layer of electrical tape but I know from experience that bright LEDs can get through even that so I threw another layer plus some black duct tape I had sitting around for good measure. |

You can turn off the lights for the HD-PVR within the ArcSoft software that comes with the box.

Where's the craftsmanship in that?

Doesn't it come back on after a reboot? I could swear that's why I stopped turning it off in ArcSoft.

I have never had any luck messing with settings in the Arcsoft software. Whenever I try, I get an error that the device is already in use. No combination of stopping services, rebooting, lucky rabbit's feet and expletives seems to make a difference.
My solution is to close the door--it's in a closet ![]() Tim

I don't know why this was moved, it was more of a silly question than true hardware discussion... that said I really don't care where it is as long as the sagetv gods are happy.
Also my intention was to inquire about the voodoo known as covering up the IR receiver on the HD-PVR. I mentioned covering LEDs only as an example of why I thought covering the IR receiver needed three layers. |
