Upgrade Question
I currently run 2xPVR150's in a WHS/Sage setup. The wife is getting itchy to start recording non-encrypted HD material we get with our standard cable setup. My goal would be to remove both PVR 150's and replace them with a single 2250.
I just want to make sure before I do this that i'll be able to record as 2x analog, 2x digital and 1 analog + 1digital? With this work? Thanks in advance. |

If you replaced the 2 PVR 150’s with one 2250 as indicated you would only have 2 tuners. You could record 2 analog, or 2 digital, or 1 analog and 1 digital simultaneously.
Why not keep your PVR 150’s where they are and get 1 HDHR? This will give you 4 tuners. 2 for analog, and 2 for HD/QAM and they all can be recording simultaneously. This way you’re not losing your current capability of the analog tuners you already bought. The HDHR option gives you more flexibility. |

What is the advantage of the homerun over the 2250? This could interest me since it might be more power efficient than the 2250. |

HDHR Advantages:
- Does not need to be inside the case free’s PCI slots - Has 2 individual coax inputs, can have 1 receiving OTA/HD and the other receiving clear QAM - Can be placed anywhere on your network Not sure how the HDHR compares to internal tuners as far as energy usage but I just tested my HDHR: 2-3 watts idle/standby bounced back and forth… 4 watts recording 2 simultaneous HD programs Maybe others have some input about the comparison between the HDHR and the 2250… I am biased since I don’t own a 2250 and really like my HDHR
