No Data for one day
Today, for some reason, I had need to manually tune in a TV program from the guide.
To my dismay the entire guide was populated with "No Data". When I moved back a day, the data was all OK - up to 5pm today. Moving forward it was all OK again from 5pm tomorrow. There was a 24-hour void in the EPG data. When I looked at all the channels there was sporadic data in a few channels but, in the main, the guide was void of data for today. What I find odd is not the void - that could be an update failure or some such problem. However the void is finite and there is future data. I have 2 questions to pose. Firstly - any idea what happened? Is there any way to force the EPG to do an update? I tried deleting and recreating the video sources, figuring that would make the guide update - but the guide seems too clever for that and it just reuses the data it has. The next update is scheduled for tomorrow so I will see if that fills in the gap. Secondly - I had to drop in a manual recording for a serial I want to watch - because the EPG driven events obviously failed. I now have a recording known as "No Data", which I would really like to rename as episode #5 in a series. Is there any way to change the program data for an already recorded program? |

Without any info about your location, the channels, tuner, etc., try this FAQ:
My Program Guide is no longer updating and is missing data for for some or all of my channels. How can I get it to start updating again? - Andy

Thanks for the response, Andy. I will e-mail all the details to you so you can take a closer look.
I tried that FAQ originally - I even deleted the lineup and all the tuners and recreated them. The idea of selecting a different lineup and waiting for it to update before going back to the real lineup is one I did not try. I will do that shortly. I did the toggle a channel again and the EPG did update - but there is still a 24-hour hole in the schedule. It is updating fine from 5pm today but the prior 24 hours is a void. Perhaps the data I will e-mail you will help. As per my second question - is there any way after the fact to add program data to a program I recorded during the "void" to change it from a recording called "no data" to put it in the folder with the other episodes in the series? |
