CPU Usage Grows over time
I restart sage and I can
* Record one show from HDPVR * Record one show from hdhome run Play back one show on hd extender My CPU usage is real low.. As low as 3-4% high as 20% However over time I see the CPU usage go up to 50% with peaks of 80-90% I am on the latest release canidate with an updated extender. I think this started with one of my last updates about 2 weeks ago but not 100% sure. I dont see anything weird in the log but wondering where I should start looking.. |

Are you watching your task manager? Is is sagetv that is using the cpu?

Yes.. that is sage usage only.. right now it is going from 4% to 50% all by itself.
I have a feeling the hdhomerun causes the demand spikes. I have been watching it tonight and when I only run the hdpvr the usage seems to stay stable and under 20%... when I fire up a channel that uses the hdhomerun it jumps all over the place... I am running a pent 4 - 3 ghz... I am running comskip too but that task is at low priority... I have been running comskip 4 months and dont remember this when I started running comskip. Is there any way to tell what tasks inside sage are using what resources? I have lastest firmware for the hdhomerun I believe but will double check shortly. |

How much memory are you using? If there isn't enough memory, the computer might be caching to disk continuously, which could be causing the CPU consumption to increase.

If I wanted to roll this back it is at simple as installing the old version over this one?

I suspect Comskip to be honest. I run a p4 3.0 ghz machine with 1 GB ram and it runs both Sage and CQC on it. I have a HDHR and a HD-PVR and have playback via a HD-100 extender. I don't see that type of CPU fluctuations. But I don't run comskip either.

I will suspend comskip by changing the rules that trigger it but I dont think it is the issue...
This is my sage cpu usage that is jumping all around. I have sage is on normal priority and comskip on low priorit. In theory I dont think that comskip should slow sage down with those settings. Am I wrong? I have been running sage for a year, comskip for 4 months and noticed this problem only in the past two weeks. Around that time I did sage and cqc upgrade Is it possible for me to roll this back without much issue? I do ghost the PC weekly but I assume if I go back to a older ghosted version that will cause issues for the index of my recorded shows? Recorded shows are on another drive so it is the index that I would want to recover. |
