.properties file not being read
I have a single movie that for some odd reason, will not read the .properties file. I have tried deleting it, and recreating it using BMT. I have tried changing the name of it. I have tried using and renaming an existing .properties file from a different movie that works. Restarting the SageTV service, as well as restarting the HD100. None of these things have worked for me.
The movie in question is Recount (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1000771/). I have about 1,300 movies, and this is the only one that will not read the .properties file. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Tony |

What bmt version are you running? I just tried with 3.0 beta and I just noticed that the themoviedb.org-2 provider is no longer there. As a result, the search is handled by the core default themoviedb.org provider, and it doesn't have any metadata. Imdb is never actually used for this movie.
So there is a bug in the 3.0 beta, in that I've accidentally dropped the themoviedb-2 provider that would use both imdb and themoviedb to get fanart/metadata for a movie. BTW... this post should have been in the Customizations section, since you are using bmt. From a sage support point of view, they will probably ask that you remove bmt and then try to import the .properties without bmt installed, just to rule out that bmt is causing the issue. But, before you do that, you may want to try.... running bmt from the command line, and pass the --provider=imdb. Code:
# java -jar MetadataTool.jar --provider=imdb Recount.avi Does this file show up in you library, except without metadata, or do it not show up in the video library at all?

Ha, well I actually typed this thread out first under the customizations section, but then decided to put it here instead. Guess I should have gone with my first thought.
Anyways, the movie shows up fine and I can play it, but the metadata doesn't show up. I tried what you suggested, but it did not work. I believe I'm using version 3. Below is what the .properties file contains. Code:
#Sage Video Metadata for file:/G:/Media/Movies/Recount/Recount.mkv #Mon Jul 06 07:49:56 CDT 2009 _releaseDate=25 May 2008 (USA) _serializedDirectors=2|Jay Roach|null|/name/nm0005366/ Director=Jay Roach; _providerDataUrl=http\://www.imdb.com/title/tt1000771/ Title=Recount Genre=Drama Actor=Kevin Spacey -- Ron Klain;\nBob Balaban -- Ben Ginsberg;\nEd Begley Jr. -- David Boies;\nLaura Dern -- Katherine Harris;\nJohn Hurt -- Warren Christopher;\nDenis Leary -- Michael Whouley;\nBruce McGill -- Mac Stipanovich;\nTom Wilkinson -- James Baker;\nBruce Altman -- Mitchell Berger;\nJayne Atkinson -- Theresa LePore;\nGary Basaraba -- Clay Roberts;\nDerek Cecil -- Jeremy Bash;\nEve Gordon -- Monica Klain;\nMarcia Jean Kurtz -- Carol Roberts;\nMitch Pileggi -- Bill Daley; _serializedDescription=A chronicle of the weeks after the 2000 U.S. presidential election and the subsequent recounts in Florida. | _serializedActors=0|Kevin Spacey|Ron Klain|/name/nm0000228/;0|Bob Balaban|Ben Ginsberg|/name/nm0000837/;0|Ed Begley Jr.|David Boies|/name/nm0000893/;0|Laura Dern|Katherine Harris|/name/nm0000368/;0|John Hurt|Warren Christopher|/name/nm0000457/;0|Denis Leary|Michael Whouley|/name/nm0001459/;0|Bruce McGill|Mac Stipanovich|/name/nm0569226/;0|Tom Wilkinson|James Baker|/name/nm0929489/;0|Bruce Altman|Mitchell Berger|/name/nm0022883/;0|Jayne Atkinson|Theresa LePore|/name/nm0040739/;0|Gary Basaraba|Clay Roberts|/name/nm0059630/;0|Derek Cecil|Jeremy Bash|/name/nm0147689/;0|Eve Gordon|Monica Klain|/name/nm0072126/;0|Marcia Jean Kurtz|Carol Roberts|/name/nm0476040/;0|Mitch Pileggi|Bill Daley|/name/nm0683379/ Rated= _serializedTitle=Recount _userRating=7.6/10 _company=Everyman Pictures _thumbnailUrl=http\://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BNDMwNDYzOTg4NF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzEwNzE3MQ@@._V1._SX100_SY136_.jpg Writer= _providerId=imdb Year=2008 _serializedGenres=Drama;History _aspectRatio=1.85 \: 1 Description=A chronicle of the weeks after the 2000 U.S. presidential election and the subsequent recounts in Florida. |\nUser Rating\: 7.6/10\n RunningTime=116 min _serializedWriters= |

You are actually using a fairly old version of the bmt tools (probably early 2.x release or 1.x release). But that aside, the property file is still valid since it does contain the Title and Description which is what Sage would use anyways.
So, I'm not sure why this movie would have an issue importing. Did you check the sagetv_0.txt log file after you imported the movie to see if there was an error?

I didn't see anything unusual in the logs. I did find another movie that apparently will not import the .properties file.
Code:

Do the video files that are causing problems have the Read Only file attribute set? When the .properties file is written or updated, the timestamp of the associated video file must be 'touched'. That's how SageTV knows it needs to import new metadata from .properties files. If the Read Only file attribute is set, then that's the problem....clear the Read Only attribute, delete the .properties files for those videos, run those videos through BMT again, and then do a rescan of the video library. If it's not an attribute problem maybe another process had the files locked and prevented BMT from updating the timestamp. Does it look like the timestamp of the problematic files were being updated?

Well, I managed to get it to work by changing the file extensions, reimporting the video library, then changing them back to the original file extensions, and then reimporting again. Weird, but everything works now. What would cause this? Some sort of caching? It was really bothering me knowing I had 2 out of 1300 movies that were not working properly.
Thanks for all the help guys. Tony |

I'm not sure what would cause this... but I'm glad you finally did get it to work.
