Help importing media: does Sage even read the properties file?
I am building a new HTPC without Meedio so this is the first time I am actually dealing with Sage's importing of files. I have set in the properties file that .ape files are music files it looks like this:
seeker/music_library_import_filename_extensions=.mp3,.wav,.wma,.ape,.flac seeker/picture_library_import_filename_extensions=.jpg,.gif,.jpeg,.jpe,.png seeker/playlist_import_filename_extensions=.m3u,.asx,.wax,.wvx,.wpl seeker/video_library_import_filename_extensions=.mpg,.mpeg,.mp2,.mpeg2,.mpe,.avi,.divx,.mpg1,.ts,.wmv,.asf,.wm,.tivo,.m2t,.mov,.mp4,.rm,.ram Futhurmore, the location where all my ape files are in, I set it to only import music files. It looks like this: D\:\\audio collection,2 Yet all my *.ape files are going into the imported video listing of media center. Why is this and how do I get Sage to actually listen to its own properties file? I am also having another issue with importing. I am building this HTPC in my home but it will be going to another location when finished. In my home I have two other Sage servers. This install is importing recorded files from those other boxes. I didn't specify any of those other Sage recording dirs for my imported media, why is it importing those files and how do I stop it? Thanks for any help! Fixed my second problem by total accident. I put the wrong key into the new Sage. Re-reged it with the new key and it stopped importing files. Go figure.
Still totally stumped on the ape files and I have been at it for a couple hours today. Seems lots of other people are having the same problem with other music formats. I really don't understand why that is since the properties file is telling Sage in like 3 different ways that *.ape is a music file. Its quite annoying because there is really no way to play these files and have Sage understand that its playing a music file (no viz or anything). Most of my music is in ape. Would seriously appreciate any ideas. |

That should be fairly easy to fix. We'll take care of it for V4.1.

I have installed 4.1 and it still imports .ogg files to the video section. In addition with the .ogg added to the seeker section of the sage annd client properties the loading of the album and artist views takes forever, sage seems to be scanning the library. Also it appears sage automatically creates a playlist for the .ogg files. This may be what is take so long for sage to display the album view.

Is the import directory set to import only music? If not, give that a try.

I think that during this time that Sage maybe populating these playlist entries. My library has ~1300 ogg files and ~700 mp3 files. If I remove the .ogg seeker entries Sage does not tke any noticeable time to display the album list. I am using Deria's MediaPlayer Plugfin and it works great with the mp3 files but with the .ogg seeker entry Sage is unusable.

I have now removed the .ogg from the seeker and the WinAmp plugin and Sage are working fine, but without the .ogg support.
When I go to the playlist menu there is a playlist for each of the .ogg albums, but they will not play. Strange! In addition there are 1000's of "VIDEO PLAYLIST (0 Segments)" in the Music Playlist Manager. Any Ideas????? It would be too time consuming to delete these by the remote or keyboard since I believe these playlists exists only in the wiz.bin.

Has anyone had success loading FLAC, OGG, or APE files into their SageTV music libraries? I can play them find when searching my HD through the winamp plugin. However I'd love to be able to browse the files in my library.
I saw a comment above from Sage's CTO that they were adding this support to 4.1, however it still doesn't seem to work. Any response would be appreciated, good or bad! Last edited by lerivin; 04-05-2006 at 10:13 AM. |

I also have never been able to import any of my FLAC files in SageTV.
I resorted to a different software for playing my music for now ... Dirk |
