Question recording multiple muxes from 1 QAM tuner

I saw a post on AVS Forums about MythTV being able to capture more than 1 QAM "mux" from a single tuner. Is this possible or even been suggested as an option in Sage? The member doesn't specify what his hardware setup contains.

It's been discussed before, and I believe the limitation is that currently, sage doesn't really know if two channels reside on the same stream or not. It simply tells the tuner to give it this particular channel, and it does so. I believe there's also problems arising from how different tuners are interfaced with. i do know the HDHR is capable of sending the complete stream to sage, in fact, a bit ago, there were problems because it ALWAYS send the full stream (saturating some peoples networks). It would take some more complicated tuner management for sage to get this working, but for some, would probably be worth it.

hurdles would be:
1. Sage knowing what channels could be combined...
2. Sage being able to create 'sub-tuners' for use in the scheduling system, to determine what would be available, and when.

Lastly, SageTV introduced a feature to only send the requested stream instead of full stream. See here.

Also, it was suggested in the same thread here.

Oh well. It may all be moot anyhow if Comcast locks down the digitals. Seems no one can get a reliable answer from their customer no-service dept.

This future would be GREAT. I hope for this in a future release. If the MythTV team is doing it, it should be doable.
