Need Help with File Conversion
Hi All,
I have recorded an old TV show that comes on once in a blue moon. I want to be able to convert it and burn the this show to a DVD so that I can play it on a DVD player. My questions are: 1 - What software should I use? I use both Windows XP and OS X. 2 - What format should I convert it to? Thanks for the Help! Jay Oh I've been using Sage TV for about 4 years and this is about the 4th post I've ever had to do. I run a P4/Server 2003 with 2 Gigs ram, 1 tb of storage, and 4 MVP's, and comskip with no problems what so ever. We haven't watched regular TV in years, just can't stand the commercials. |

I see you are using mvp's for playback so I am assuming that you are recording analog cable with something like a pvr-150. Your output files should be .mpeg which don't really need conversion but just reconfiguring into the video_ts folder structure needed by a dvd player.
It's not free but the best luck I've had with trying to do this is Videoredo TV suite. It is very simple to use and always seems to make a playable dvd. Also, if you change your comskip configuration file you can have comskip output a .vprj file which is the project file for videoredo. That way you simply click on the correct vprj file and your video is opened in videoredo with the commercials already marked for deletion. In comskip.ini, edit the line: output_videoredo=1. It's simple to adjust the cuts and have a clean file. I'm sure you don't want to burn the commercials to the DVD. |

DVD Flick: http://www.dvdflick.net/
It's free and easy. The menus aren't anything to brag about but they are functional. Additionally, DVD Flick does a great job with nearly every type of file. |

While it has a rather steep learning curve, I am recently quite enamored of AVIDemux - http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/
Read more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avidemux It can read, edit, reformat, and render just about anything into just about anything. And it's free.... |
