HD200 same as running SageTV.exe on server?

I think I know the answer, but I'm not sure if the HD200 is essentially like running SageTV.exe on the Server itself, or if the HD200 uses a different method to its formatting and properties.

I ask because it would be MUCH easier to set everything up with keyboard access as opposed to "typing" using the remote.

Can I go into the server using RDC and run SageTV.exe and set it up (update, SageMC installation, BMT, AMIS, etc.) and then have that translate into the HD200 OR is SageTV.exe on the server essentially just like running another client version with its own properties file?

Thanks for any help.

Even if you set up SageTV.exe on the server it is treated as a seperate client with its own .properties file. After setup you could copy settings out of there and into the HD200 .properties file. But any time you fire up a new HD200 you'll need to set it up.

Which .properties file applies to each thing? I was under the impression that the main sage.properties file on the server was for the service.

Does running SageTV.exe on the server create a separate properties file?

Where do the HD200's store their specific properties file? I have a SageTV\SageTV\Clients folder with a properties file in it.

In Install_Point\SageTV
sage.properties - service properties
sageclient.properties - client UI running on server properties. (when running in service mode the UI that you run on the server is a client)

In Install_Point\SageTV\Clients
MACADDRESS.properties - extender (HD100/HD200/MVP?) properties files where MACADDRESS is the mac address of the client

OK, I think I get it now.

Files stored on Server
  • Service properties - C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\sage.properties
  • HD200 properties - C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\clients\001d6a4cf5b8.properties (more than one file for each HD200 installed)
  • Running SageTV.exe on server (Client on Server) - C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageClient.properties

Files stored on local clients (ie desktop in another room)
  • C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageClient.properties

That helps a ton.

Is there anything stored in a specific .properties file that cannot be translated into another .properties file? ie. If I setup the properties how like them on the server client IU and then simply copy and past to the HD200 properties file or the desktop client. It would be easiest to set everything up through the RDC to the server client and then copy over to the HD200 and desktop.
