Lost my HD channels
Over the weekend most of my HD channels disappeared. When I select them the screen goes completely black, no sound and nothing records. I have to stop and go back to the main menu. A couple of the HD channels do still work.
I live in Los Angeles and am using an external ariel with an ATI HDTV wonder and Hauppage 1600 tuner cards. I've tried removing both sources and re-adding them then doing a scan for channels but that hasn't fixed it. This seems too close to the DTV switchover to be a coincidence but I can't work out why that would impact it. I'm using Sage TV ver 6.4 with a server and 2 extenders. Any ideas out there? |

Same thing happened to me over the weekend in Portland, OR. I have a Hauppauge 1800 card and deleting and rescanning haven't restored my channels

I think some digital channels are moving and our lineups aren't updated yet.

Just deleted and rebuilt my channel lineup and there are a lot of changes. Got all the old channels back and more.

Check the FCC database, or search the AVS Forums for your local area, and find out what stations moved and such. I'm on top of the whole digital switch (from the technology side) but I got stuck when Zap2It.com (the provider of Sage's EPG) didn't update their channel listings after the switch... I have had to manually force/re-assign several of my channels (and I will have to undo it when Zap2It finally gets around to updating).

Shouldn't the current SageTV update the channel lineup automatically? Or is that just for 'new' channels, not channels which have changed?

In my specific instance, I have two PBS stations that each have 5 subchannels each. Previously, they were xx-2 through xx-6, with -2 being the digital SD version of what their "main" analog show always was, and -6 being the HD version of that same channel. xx-3, xx-4, and xx-5 were other alternate programming subchannels. But since the switch, they decided to make the HD version the "main" channel... so they moved the HD subchannel to xx-1 (entirely new, since they used to start at -2), moved the three "other" channels up one (previous -3 is now at -2, etc.), and bumped the SD version of the "main" channel, previously at -2, back to -5 (the last of the 5 subchannels). But if I go onto Zap2It.com's website, they still have -2 through -6 (as it was previous to the switch), and have programming shown for those channels. My suspicion is that they had two weeks programming already in their database from before the switch, and they therefore have two weeks' time in order to get it corrected before they run out of data. Regardless, I have had to manually force the EPG channels to their new correct locations, so that the listings are correct. And I have to remain vigilant for when they fix it, so I can set it back to default and not miss any scheduled shows.

Thanks. I did another rescan this morning and most of the network channels are back now, just waiting for Fox to turn up.

Some of the issues could be that your channels disappeared because they moved from UHF to VHF. Also, the stations may have lowered their signal strength as well too. That happened in both the Baltimore and DC market.
With these problems, I am glad the government moved the date to the summer, so it gives me time to identify the problem and them fixed before the start of the fall season.
