lost all channels
Hi,
While I was online writing my first message to this forum, and watching TV at the same time, I suddenly could not change channels any more. Going back to the setup menu, all channel information was lost. Restarting SageTV, removing and reinstalling the application has no result: all channel infirmation is gone! Please help. Thanks, jan |

Jan,
Are you running v1.3.8 or one of the beta versions?

I "solved" the problem by installing a backup of my system and reinstalling (the trial version) of SageTV.
When I did channel-setup, I had over 300 channels to choose from; about 30 of them give me a usable TV signal. I selected these 30 and I then could watch TV, make recordings etc. Everything went well, untill I connected to Internet while SageTV was active (Live TV). After disconnecting from internet, I could not change TV channels any more and in the guide all channels were gone. Restarting the program, removing the source capture device in the setup and adding it again does not bring the channels back; the list to choose from is empty. It must have been caused by an EPG update, but I don't understand why. When connecting to internet before without Sage active, no problem was caused. Please help, jan |

I also have this program. After the EPG update, everything is lost. Only solution is remove the the source, complete the setup, then setup again. It happen everytime while the EPG update and from ver 1.3 to 1.4 beta.

Are you using the SageTV EPG data or are you using the EPG Plugin?

I suppose it is EPG data, I have not installed any plugin.
In fact I don't need any EPG update, being in the Netherlands there is no usable EPG as far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong, because I would like to use it). If you are referring to XMLTV, I have not installed that (yet). Are Arix and myself the only ones with this problem? How can I prevent this from happening again? Thanks, jan |

Re: jam smit
You have the same program of I. I also don't have any plugin and any EPG in Hong Kong. But I found SageTV will still go update the EPG every 24hrs. |

arix, if you go to setup, detailed setup, general. There you put off the mark at "autodial if needed for internet". Also make sure that you do not have SageTV active when you connect to internet. If you have a constant connection you may have a problem which hopefully will be fixed by Narflex. That way you can prevent the EPG-update.
In my case I also had to make sure that autodial does not happen via my network. Good luck and thank you for your reaction. jan |

I can sure no mark on "autodial if needed for internet". But the SageTV is one of the PC in my W2K Domain which has a "always on" internet connection. Also I would like to have a SageClient through VPN which need internet connection. That mean I can't make SageClient or TV to connect through internet, before this problem has been fixed. BTW thanks your advice. I think there should not have any EPG update, if I choose no SageService access and no plugin installed.
