Lost channels above 13
First of all.. I'm a newb, sorry for dumb questions in advance!
When I first installed SageTV trial (just a few days ago) with a new PVR-150 card, I scanned my channels and set it up just fine. Yesterday I tried to tune to a channel above channel 13 and nothing.. just static. So.. I scanned the channels again.. nothing. Channels up to channel 13 are recognized but nothing above that. I removed the video source, re-added it.. re-scanned... same problem. I was starting to think my tuner card had gone bad (brand new) until I gave up and installed a trial of ChrisTV. It scans all channels just fine. So what setting am I missing in SageTV? SageTV seems to be much better software, and would rather purchase it instead of ChrisTV but if it won't scan the channels I have no choice but to go with ChrisTV. So what am I doing wrong? I checked and it is set on Cable instead of Antenna.. tried both as a matter of fact.. neither scans anything above channel 13. Will try a complete uninstall and re-install tonight, but beyond that I am lost. Thanks in advance if anyone knows where I went wrong. |

Hi,
maybe this part of the faq helps : Q:I can't tune to channels above 14. A:Go through your Setup Wizard and make sure you have TV Tuner – Cable selected and not TV Tuner – Antenna. Alexander |

UHF probems - help
I can't view UHF band/channels....
I know I'm supposed to have the tuner to analog/over the air and the antenna set to cable to recieve the UHF band. I've done this and still static on UHF channels. I've tested the card with WinTV and Snapstream and UHF works great on the other software, but not SageTV. I'm sure its a setting or a tweak - anybody got ideas?? Help... (Thanks!!) * merged * |

stumped
I have the same issue - i posted a similar question. I've rebuilt the machine from scratch - everything works using WinTV or even SnapStream BeyondTV4, but no luck with SageTV. I'm so frustrated!! I am using the PVR 350 card - thing works awesome!! Please let me know if you get it working because I could use any tips you learn...

I don't have a question. I'm just sharing how I fixed this problem in case someone else encounters it.
Just today I noticed that, out of the blue, all my channels above 13 were now just static, as in completely gone. I haven't touched the PVR in months. It just happened. I've seen this a million times, so I immediately remembered the Antenna/Cable setting. I checked, and yes, it had flipped to "Antenna". How this happened when I haven't touched the thing, I have no idea. It just flipped! After setting it back to Cable, surprisingly, it *still* didn't tune the channels above 13. So I deleted the source and re-added it. STILL only channels 1-13. Now I'm starting to get pissed off. I've been using Sage for years and the settings are right. "What the heck's going on?" I think. Anyway... long story short, I temporarily removed the splitter to eliminate one more variable (though I now know this had nothing to do with it), then once again deleted the source. I exited Sage, then rebooted the computer, re-started Sage, re-added the source, and hey presto, it now finds all the channels again. Same settings as before... just needed a reboot. Windows software needing a reboot?? No, really? I'm shocked. Anyway, that's the exciting story of how I fixed it. Hopefully we've all learned or re-affirmed one valuable lesson: "Shut up and reboot".
