HD200 won't play HD-PVR ts files in extender mode - FIXED

I just got my HD200 yesterday and eagerly reconfigured the living room entertainment center to replace the PC Sage Client box I was using. After a few failed attempts at getting HDMI->DVI working on my TV I settled on using Component for now. Everything then seemed to work well I was able to play my ripped dvd's and old tv recordings.

Then I hit a major stumbling block. The HD200 chokes on my HDPVR files. It will go to a blank screen and have no audio. Enabling logging on my HD200 reveals a constant stream of the following messages.

Code:
audio pts is smaller than stc, entering paused mode
The pts value stays at zero while stc continues to increase.

I then booted the HD200 into stand alone mode and was able to successfully play the same file by browsing to my recorded TV share.

My server version 6.5.16 and is running on WHS with 64k cluster pooled drives per SME's tutorials and I have two other PC Clients which work fine with all recordings.

Has anyone else had problems getting the HD200 to play HD-PVR recordings via extender mode?!? I sent a support request to Sage hopefully they'll have a quick fix.

Both my HD100 and HD200 play my HD-PVR files fine. My recordings are being done in DD 5.1 also.

Is your audio configured for optical or analog? If optical do you have it connected to your receiver/amp?

My HD-PVR is properly recording using optical and the HD200 is hooked up using optical and DD 5.1 plays correctly for my x264/AC3 mkv files. The only problem I have is with the recordings from the HD-PVR.

What driver version are you using for the HD-PVR?

I'll hazard a guess that it is the same problem I have viewing HD-PVR recordings or live t.v. via placeshifter on Windows or Linux. Although I can actually get some video and the audio is fine, the video is stop motion. Windows Client app however will work so that might be a clue. If I convert the .ts video it will then play (and comskip) but the audio is out of sync.
Note that other video such as HD OTA, online videos, etc work fine. Only the HD-PVR's .ts files give me trouble.

What version of the server are you using? If you're not on the latest beta; I'd upgrade to that. And if that doesn't fix it; then do a Library Rescan in Detailed Setup->Advanced. There's probably just some bad format information about those files in the database from an old version is my guess.

I am using the 6.5.16 beta on the WHS server and the latest beta firmware on the hd200. The rescan scan only seems to be scaning the import directories and the HD200 plays all of my import videos just fine.

The problem I'm having is with live tv and sagetv recordings. I can not watch live tv or play any recordings which are recorded with an HD-PVR. I can successfully play old archived recordings from when I used the 150 capture cards.

Well one step closer! Going on Narflex suggestion I did a full content reindex (force_full_content_reindex=true and restart) and now all old recordings (.ts and .mpg) are playable. Unfortunately LiveTV and recordings happening after the reindex are not viewable.

Doing more digging last night. Looks like the SageTV server is not properly working with the HD PVR. When I set quality settings they are listed as MPEG2 quality settings and when a recording begin the configureHCWEncoder fails on every setting it tries to set. It looks like the server is then persisting meta-data indicating the file is an MPEG2-PS stream instead of H264-TS. Now when the HD200 tries to play the file it attempts to open the file as an MPEG2-PS and errors out parsing the file. Doing a full content reindex now properly sets the meta data as an H264-TS file and it plays back properly.

I remember at one point the recording quality screen properly lists H264 instead of MPEG.

HDPVR Quality Settings listed as MPEG

When I go to the recording quality screen my HDPVR list MPEG2 instead of H264. I seem to remember at some point the screen properly listed H264. Does anyone have this listed properly on the screen and if so what version of HDPVR drivers and SageTV are you using?

Double check that you have the latest beta installed on the PC and the latest beta firmware on the HD200. Enable debug logging & restart SageTV.

Keep your logs and submit a bug report (see my sig lines for a link).

I figured out what was wrong. At some point I had setup my service to run as a user on my WHS server. If I switch back to a local system account everything behaves appropriately.

I was able to reconfigure my network shares to allow execution under the local system account so I'm good to go for now.
