Go to the firmware update screen on the extender and enter 2382 (beta) from the remote and then check for and install the latest beta firmware.

Turn the extender off using the switch on the back of the unit. Then turn it back on. When it first starts to boot, it asks if you want to autoconnect to the Sage Server. Move the curser over to the "Setting" button in the lower left of the screen and press it.
This will put you into the extender set up menu and one of the options is to update the firmware. As mentioned, when you are on the firmware screen, press the numbers "2382" - it won't appear that it is doing anything, but once you type in all four numbers, the screen will switch to search for the latest beta firmware (instead of the latest firmware). Just follow the instructions on the screen to finish the process. All of this is in the manual. I suggest you take a look at it.

There is no beta version of the HD100 firmware currently. Here is the latest firmware & that has a link to instructions for updating the firmware.

I dont think a firmware upgrade will help. From what I understand the MVPs can only decode MPEG2 files. All other formats must be transcoded by the server on the fly to MPEG2 , then sent to the MVPs. The problem seems to be that Sage transcoder cannot effectively transcode H264 files in it's current form. You can hope that the Sagetv developers will someday rewrite their transcoder program or just buy the new HD extender.
