Current state of the art commercial detection...
Is there one?

I have been using comskip monitor for quite awhile. I noticed that the version of comskip it was packaged with was quite old. 79_59. So I downloaded 80_023 and ran through the set-up but comskip monitor says the 80_023 .exe isn;t valid.

I noticed in the SageMCE tweaks it talks about drimon2. Which would seem to offer the same functionality.

Is there a best practice among SageTV users regarding dirmon2, comskip, and show analyzer etc...???

There are two programs for commercial detection. Comskip and Showanalyzer. For commercial detection of HD, h.264-based recordings you would need to use either the donation-version of Comskip (not free) or the beta of ShowAnalyzer Suite. Comskip Monitor, Dirmon2 and SageJobQueue (SJQ) are programs to use to get either comskip or showanalyzer to run against new recordings as they are created.

There is Comskip and there is Show Analyzer. ComskipMonitor runs Comskip, but I use DirMon2 because I like its GUI and have control of how many instances of Comskip run at one time.

So does the current showanalyzer not detect commercials correctly for HD recordings off of the HDHR?

I'd say that for the majority, SA works fine for HD (I too have an HDHR). 2 posters seem to be having a problem.
