Bought wrong version

I accidentally purchased the Mac license for SageTV and need the Windows version. Does anyone know what their exchange policy is so that I can get the correct registration key?

To my knowledge, there is no exchange policy for versions. I made the same mistake as you, except I bought Windows instead of Linux.

If you recently made the purchase, I suggest you email SageTV instead of posting on the forum. The people on the forum aren't connected to the SageTV store and can't answer your question.

I've already emailed them and was waiting for an answer. I was just curious if it's happened to anyone before to see what kind of an answer I might get when they do answer.

Keep in mind that the Linux version is considered OEM - hence the reason it is a bit different than any other version of Sage. My hunch will be that they will swap you with little trouble. The Linux flavor has always been a completely different kettle of fish regardless of the issue, due to it's OEM status.

Good for you.

And I fail to see what the 'OEM' nature of the Linux version has to do with it. Binary is java, yes?

The Linux version was created as an OEM version for use as a SageTV set top-type box. Originally it was never intended to be sold to the public consumer. After a public outcry on these forums Sage annouced it would be sold but it would not be providing any support. Support is a paid option through their OEM agreement. So for the most part you will get some support on the linux version from Sage on occassion but mostly the support is on a user-to-user basis.
