all of a sudden, there's no data in the program guide!??!

Not sure when this happened, but I found that at least as of earlier this week, there's no data in the program guide. i searched for a show that I know is current (American Chopper) and it listed no upcoming shows. I went to the program guide and there was nothing there.

Restarted the system, and still nothing, so I went into the 'setup video sources' menu and when I selected one, and did the EPG setup. I got as far as 'enter the zip code (actually just confirmed the zip code, since it'd been set before) then it tells me, 'there was an error connecting to the sagetv server. Please be sure your internet connection is established and that you have entered the correct zip/postal code".

Any ideas!?!?!

Mick

Force update of EPG

I'm astonished not to find a stickie, of course, I didn't have much luck searching eitehr (foudn stuff about testing windows 7!?!?).

How do you force the EPG to update? I'm messing with my router and want to see if it's fixed the problem. Thanks!

There are a couple FAQs you should check out:

My Program Guide is no longer updating and is missing data for for some or all of my channels. How can I get it to start updating again?

What ports do I need to open in my firewall for SageTV?

There are more EPG FAQs in the forum's main FAQ thread.

Thanks Opus. Strange thing is, I figured it was the Verizon router that I swapped out a few weeks ago, but I put my old router back, which had worked for a couple years and still was setup as it had been, and no joy. Any other ideas???

The basic fix is: got to the channel lineup. Disable and then re-enable one channel. Then WAIT. See if that helps on any channels. The ones that are updated via internet (your internet IS working, right) should happen pretty fast. The others may take longer. You may want to enable LOGGING first to see if it's doing anything.

Figured it out...

Sorry to waste your time, it was a DNS error. I retired a server, adn since this system has a static IP when the new server came on line, my clients could still connect to it via IP address, but the SageTV server couldn't connect to the guide info because it couldn't resolve the EPG server to IP address becasue it was trying to use a DNS server that no longer exists.

Doh! Just pissed to find I missed a couple weeks of my shows because of it!

Thanks for the help anyway!
