AAAARRRRRGGGG!! File move frustration
I'm having problems moving files to another drive and having them keep their information. It's driving me crazy!
Ultimately what I'm trying to accomplish is to have all of my sage archived shows on a network share so I can easily back up only those important shows. Should be pretty easy, but it's just not working for me.
Ok, I'm running the latest Sage beta, ive created a share on another computer, added it as a unc video import directory. First, try the easy method, shut down, move file, restart. file is now showing up as an imported video, not an archived recording. Second, try the advanced method. Shut down, set property to true, move file, restart sage. Same deal. Of the 14 files that I moved in various ways, only one stayed an archived recording. Any insights or suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?
If I am stuck moving them and then editing their info with the webserver, is their any way to relink that show to it's original data, or am I basically creating a "new" archived recording?
Also, somewhere in the middle of my experiments, I started playing with .my files. In the future if I move shows, should I move the .my? Will sage fix the incorrect path info?
Lastly, speaking of .my, could someone please point me tward the best threads for learning about .my, .properties, and fanart. For some reason I have a very hard time finding basic info on this forum. It must be some sort of mental block but I never seem to be able to bring up the most relevant info when I do a search.
Many thanks,
Nick
