Question FRUSTRATION!!!

I've just finished building and configuring a SageTV Client for my living room. I'm using a Streamzap remote, the SageMC 16x9 STV, and Media Player Classic as an external player for my ripped DVD movies (I have gotten the best picture and audio from Media Player Classic...)

Anyways, when I fire a movie off from "My Videos" it opens up in Media Player Classic fine (fullscreen per my request, I do have to FF past the folder.jpg to get the movie started... but other than that it's fine.) I can control Media Player Classic sufficiently with the Streamzap without having to use Girder so that's cool too. The problem comes when I finish my movie and use the "Exit" button to close Media Player Classic and return to Sage... Media Player Classic closes, but Sage stays minimized on the taskbar instead of returning to fullscreen.

I have my red button set to fire the SageTV app (for some reason overnight the sage software closes and the only way my wife can get it to open is using this button...) The green is set to switch Sage in and out of Full Screen mode cause I thought this would help me get it maximized... it doesn't...

I've read through the forums for hours, downloaded the SendMessage utility to link to one of my color buttons, but I can't figure out what the # for the Maximize message it.... here is what I tried:

C:\Sendmessage.exe -C SageClientApp -N SageWin WM_MAXIMIZE

All it does is bring up the SendMessage v2.2 "instructions" (if you can call them that... all the SendMessage material I've been able to find it very vague...)

I'm totally frustrated and ready to scrap the whole project... all I want is to be able to Maximize SageTV without having to introduce Girder (and another HUGE can of worms...)

Any ideas?

Usage of the SendMessage utility is covered a bit more in Appendix J in the SageTV manual (p. 244 for v4.1), while the list of possible commands & their event codes start on p. 192. However, I'm not sure if that is going to help if SageTV isn't getting restored from being minimized after the customization closes the external player.

The SendMessage command you posted causes the usage dialog to be displayed because it isn't formatted the way it is shown in that dialog -- not all parameters are there & it doesn't recognize Windows messsage names such as WM_MAXIMIZE; it can only use numbers for message number parameters.

Angry

Thanks for the info, but I've read those sections many times. I've been unable to lcoate the message number for the WM_MAXIMIZE command, is there one?

I've tried everything to get Sage to Maximize after exiting the external player... no joy.

I want to say this issue started after I installed the Streamzap remote... but I can't be for sure...

I guess what you are really telling me is that the only way to do what I want is install Girder? I was really hoping I could avoid that... but if that's what need to happen to gain the needed WAF, then so be it...

Hi,

Girder may seem complex, but it's really easy (mostly), and If all you want to do is maximise sage, you only need to map the one control, if everything else is working fine, leave that as is.

If you get any specific questions, post them on here, I'll try and help when I get a chance to log in (no where near as often as I'd like to nowadays). And there are plenty of other Girder experts out there.

Cheers

Mark

If Sage is sleeping (systray icon, not task bar minimised) then you can use the POWER ON sage command to wake it up into it's previous state.

Sendmessage.exe -C SageApp -N SageWin -M 1258 -W 0 43

Thumbs up Issue solved!

I knew I wasn't crazy... or at least I hadn't lost my mind... I did have this working properly before WITHOUT using windows messages...

All I had to do was turn OFF "Full Screen Exclusive Mode" and everything went back to normal (ie - I fire off a ripped DVD via "My Videos" and it opens it with Media Player Classic, then when I'm done with the movie and exit MPC it takes me right back to Sage...)

AWESOME!!! I LOVE THIS SOFTWARE!!!
