autorecording just stops working?

I've filed a support request, but thought I would try here too.

I've got 6.5 server and an HD200. It's been working fine for a while. At some point I noticed that every several days Sage will stop autorecording any series or anything I select in the future from the guide. "Upcoming Recordings" is empty. Rebooting the server fixes this problem. Anyone else seeing this?

Could it be that SageTV has lost contact with your tuner? I have never used the HDHR, but when a network tuner drops out I could see this as a result.

Huh, that's an interesting idea. It's all on the same gigE switch, but I suppose it's possible. Let's say I have Sage running, and an HRDR running and Sage loses track of the tuner (maybe I power it off). What do I do to reestablish contact, short of recycling sage?

In my experience, the network tuner needs to be online when SageTV is launched and if it is offline for any period of time (I don't know how short this is) it will fall out. Restarting SageTV fixes this.

Thanks. Support suggests it's a bug with JRE 1.6 and that I should go to 1.5. I'll try upgrading the HDHR firmware first.

I've seen all kinds of strange bugs when using JRE 1.6. I'd try their suggestion, and use 1.5. FWIW, the IBM 1.5 has been very stable for me, and is faster than any Sun JRE. This is noticeable in how long it takes to re-draw menu screens on my HD100.

I'm reluctant to do so because I haven't changed the JRE recently. The problem, however, is recent. I've been using this setup for months without this trouble, but I have been upgrading both Sage server and SageMC. So it "feels" like it's a problem introduced by Sage.

I didn't see the problem for about a week, then I noticed it again last night before I posted. I upgraded the firmware on the HDHR, we'll see...
