I have the miracle cure for the spinning circle of doom!
Delete your wiz.bin and start again.
Yes I know, its not actually a good solution. I opted to wipe out my history as I switched from using Radio Times data to Digiguide epg (UK), which has far better quality data (so far as episode names and season/episode numbers goes). After a couple of days, I realised the UI hadn't hung on me once since the switch and it had remained responsive, no strange pauses or spinning circles since. |

Ouch. Don't delete your wiz.bin unless you want to totally start from scratch. That would delete any and all data SageTV has for your recorded, watched and scheduled recordings among other things.
There are many, many things that can cause the "circle of death" as my wife calls it. So a good solution for one person might not be a good one for others. Glad to hear its working better for you now though. |

For those wanting to try the start from scratch approach, you don't have to start completely from scratch. Consider using the webserver plugin to export existing favorites settings and recorded shows to XML before trashing the wiz.bin. Then you can import the favs and shows back to the new wiz.bin.

I was hoping that someone actually had come up with a definitive solution to this problem. It it the biggest cause of dissatisfaction with SageTV that I have run into. It happens seemingly for no reason whatsoever and the only fix is to fire up task manager and kill Sage. What a royal pain in the a$$...
