Favorite Recording Stops in Final Minutes

I'm running Sage v6.5.9. I was just watching the Daily Show mostly live. That show is in my favorites list and was recording on it's own before I started watching it. About 26 minutes into the show I pressed stop on my remote, and noticed that the recording icon was no longer showing. Sure enough, Sage decided to stop recording the Daily Show after I pressed the stop button. Was that just some sort of freak accident, or has anyone else noticed that? I know Sage will consider a recording 'watched' after watching most of it, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is a minor bug related to that.

I have seen the same thing with previous releases of Sage. I also concluded that it was related to the program being considered as watched. I did not bother to report it because I very seldom watch live TV. It is hard to say weather it is a bug or a feature, but since it is almost impossible to tell Sage to stop a recording if you want too, I would now consider it a bug. It would be interesting to see if setting the watched flag would cancel a recording. It may require a combination of setting the watched flag and starting to watch it live and then stopping it. It may be just related to how close you are to watching the end of the program. I think you would have to know the answer to all of these before you could determine if it is a bug or not.

I'm guessing this could be most accurately described as an "unintended feature". I'm pretty sure if you mark a favorite watched in the middle of a recording it will stop recording it (although, it doesn't seem to work instantly). So, when you hit stop towards the end of a show, the show is marked watched, and Sage decides it should stop recording it. But, it seems like Sage should really be a little more careful about when decides to stop recordings. I suppose the easiest and quickest fix would be to not prematurely stop active recordings based on the 'watched' status in the last 5 minutes, or however close you have to be to the end of the show for Sage to decide that it is 'watched'.

Seems to me that this is the sort of thing that SageTV should ask you about before doing it. If you hit stop towards the end of a show that hasn't finished recording and SageTV thinks maybe it should stop the recording, it should pop up a screen like it does about changing channels out from under you and ask if you want to stop the recording or not. It should either give you the option or NOT stop the recording.
