recording stops after 10-20 minutes

Greetings!

I just discovered Sage TV and am intrigued by some of its features, but I can't get SageTV Recorder to work properly. I have been trying to record from a vhs tape using the composite inputs. I have been trying to record using the SVCD settings. First of all, when I record with the preview window open, the video is choppy but the audio is fine.

My system is a AMD Athlon 1 GHz with 512 mb ram, ati radeon 7500 video card, and Pinnacle Systems PCTV Deluxe USB 2.0 tv tuner. I am running on a fresh install of windows XP, and I have made sure my drivers are up to date. I also have plenty of hard drive space free (+40 gb). What has me really baffled is that I can use Pinnacle's software without any problems. When I record, the video is not choppy unlike from SageTV recorder.

I also have an unrelated question. Can SageTV Recorder record to Divx format?
