Newbie-sound on pc but not on tv

I've ripped three blu-ray discs to my pc using "Blu-ray Disk Ripper 1.2 for .NET" with "AnyDVD HD" running. The resulting m2ts file of the main movie for two discs (shawshank redemption & juno) play perfectly in SageTV on my pc and on my TV with the SageTV HD Theater accessing my pc. The third disc (changeling) plays perfectly on the pc but plays with no sound on the tv. The ripped trailer of changeling plays with sound on the tv.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

The third one is probably DTS. The HD Theater will not decode DTS. You have 2 options:

rip the disc again using only the dolby soundtrack
connect the S/PDIF output of the HD200 to a DTS decoder (reciever, usually)

There may be a way to change the audio track on the HD200 but I don't know. Maybe someone else who knows a bit more can chime in.

use the audio button on the remote to cycle through the available audio options.... or while watching a bluray press options -> Audio Options -> selection box with all the audio tracks...

Sometimes the main movie soundtrack is only DTS (if you want surround).... If you are using only the TV's speakers then this isn't an issue because all movies include a 2.0 AC3 stream (at least all the ones i have seen). However, if you want surround then you have two choices:
  1. Get a receiver that can decode DTS and pass optical or hdmi from the HD200 to the receiver
  2. Use an external program to reencode the DTS to AC3 (dolby digital) and then remux everything into a new BDMV (bluray movie folder structure)... So you would need to:
    1. Rip the original BD to disc with AnyDVDHD
    2. Extract the disc to elementary streams
    3. Reencode the DTS to AC3 (use EAC3TO or clownBD... check out the doom9 forums for more info....)
    4. Remux everything back together to a new BDMV (I use TSMuxer for all my remuxing needs....)

Thanks

Thanks for the help, guys. I think I will wait until the canned software rippers catch up with the latest blu-ray.

I've got my SageTV working well now, recording hd off the cable box for viewing on the 200.
