I paid for the paid version of comskip, now what?

As I stated above but it seems quite different than the free version. So what do I need to do to properly install the paid version and use it for sage??

Actually its very easy. Once you download the files just drop and replace the old files with the new version.

Where do I drop the files.

I had to drop files into the "sagtv3" folder.

Is that where?

or

Do I need to run the exe and install the program. I am running the latest version of sagemc. Kind of confusing differentiating between the two

I thought comskip was FREE! Of course if you donate you get to the beta and the H264 file process.

How are you running comskip?

The program does not run itself and must be called by another program. There are a few different ways. You can put the program in any fold you wish. The program that calls comskip (i.e. comskip monitor) will need to reference that location and your recording location(s).

I use a HD-PVR (which I believe is H.264 format but I could not be wrong). So I donated to get that capability.

Mick.
I actually read this but the files contained in the paid version compared to the free version seemed different.

I am new to sage and just installed sagemc (comskip came with it). This article covers stv and doesn't seem to cover sagemc.

So I am not sure if I if I should extract the zip folder to the sagetv3 folder or perform an install of the program. Then I am going to attempt to use dirmon2 to call to comskip so that it will know when to scan the recording.

Thanks all for the help that you are providing. I look forward to your answer
Bill

PS This is as addicting as I have read in these forums.

All SageMC does is read the .edl or .txt file which comskip produces for commercial marks. So, all you need is comskip monitor and your comskip and have them run (doesn't need sagetv/ sagemc).

again: All SAGEMC is doing is just reading the .edl or .txt file.

Read the "HOW TO INSTALL COMMERCIAL DETECTION IN SAGETV" section in mickp link above.

The donator version contains additional dll file(s).
Copy them next to where your current comskip.exe is located.
Replace the current comskip.exe with the donator version.
That should be all.

I donated also and after it took me to a link that had newer downloads. I chose the latest one and while it had an updated .exe and.ini file, there were not any .dll files in the zipped download.

I checked a previous version or two and found those did not contain any .dll files either.

I found this strange to be taken to a linked site when I thought I had read you have to manually go through the donations. I was assuming part of this manual process was to send out a link/password or something.

What is the donation process?
Thanks

Did you receive the "thank you" mail after donating?
Did you click on the link in the mail?
Did you enter the information from the mail?
Did you download the zip file containing the word "donator" in the file name?
Which build did you download?
Was there no comcodec.dll file inside the zip file?

I just received it a few minutes ago. I thought I had read that it was a manual process to go through the donations and you would get to them when you could, but after I hit send on PayPal it opened a link with files in it. I downloaded one of them which did not have any .dll files.
Now it makes sense.
Thanks!

How can you shutdown ComSkip elegantly while it is crunching an MPEG? Will it remember where it left off? (mid file)
