unable to play imported .mov files - UPDATE - issue resolved

Hello all. I have been happily enjoying my HD200 (running as a client in extender mode) since late December of 2008.

Recently I imported some .MOV files that I purchased (these files are DRM-free) into my video file. From the extender I am able to pull up the video folder and see the files (with associated screenshot thumbnails). However, when I attempt to play any of these files, the extender appears to "timeout." First the TV screen goes black for about ten to fifteen seconds, then, the screen saver screen comes up for about three seconds. Finally, the extender reboots.

I have no trouble playing these files directly on my server using Quicktime as the player. These files are either 1080i or 1080p and are somewhat large files >1GB.

I have searched the forum for related information, but am at a loss as to what may be causing these files to cause the extender to reboot. Any insight into what I may do to correct this problem is appreciated. If any additional information is needed to diagnose this problem is needed, please let me know.

Thanks,

Rob

Update - By converting the files to MPEG 4 within the Sage software itself, I am now able to view the resulting .AVI files on the extender without issue. The process was as follows:

1) select the .MOV file in Sage and select convert file
2) choose MPEG 4 HDTV
3) let the conversion run
4) play the resulting .AVI file of the same name
