Extra Wide Black Bars

I'm watching the Sci Fi (or now SyFy - lame name) channel on my SDTV via direct cable and it's shows are in wide screen format with an inch or so of black bars on top and bottom. Same with other shows (House, Supernatural, etc.).

When I watch these same shows (or recordings of them) through SageTV and my nVidia 8400GS, I get an extra 3/4 inch of black bars on both the top and bottom. What is strange is that I use a HP PVR-350 for recording and if I use the TV-Out of that instead of the nVidia 8400, I don't get the extra 3/4 inch.

To summarize for wide screen shows:

Cable -> TV = normal black bars
Cable -> PVR-350 In -> PVR-350 Out -> TV = normal black bars
Cable -> PVR-350 In -> nVidia 8400GS Out -> TV = extra wide black bars
Recording -> PVR-350 Out -> TV = normal black bars
Recording -> nVidia 8400GS Out -> TV = extra wide black bars

So it looks like it has something to do with the nVidia 8400GS? My DVR computer only has PCI so I'm limited in the video card category and the 8400GS seems to be the best for the $$$. I have the latest drivers from nVidia (at least 3 weeks ago).

Any suggestions?
