So confused on EPG

I am just stumped. I have read everything I could but I can't find that is like "do step one, then step two, then step three". Everyone just assumes I already know whats up.

When I am setting up my sagetv media center (on an XP machine but might swap my haup pvr150 to my WMS if I decide to buy) it sees my tuner fine, gets a great signal but then when I put in my zip code for the XMLTV, it just never pulls anything up and sits there. Is this normal? Is XMLTV dead and I just can't find anything about it?

I mean I think I get that you need a grabber to go out and "read" the EPG info off a site publishing it, not necessarily for people like us, I just don't see how to put that in practice or even find a grabber.

Is there a reason you are talking about XMLTV if you are in the US? The built-in EPG data from SageTV covers the US and Canada.

Configuring a tuner with EPG data is covered in the SageTV PDF manual, installed with SageTV. See chapter 5's "Source Setup", starting on p. 149. Configuring the EPG lineup starts on p. 154.

Make sure your firewall is open -- see p. 224 or this FAQ for the port number for EPG use.

Because I spend 18 hours a day in front of a computer and smoke entirely too much marijuana. Thanks for the info
