Confused about EPG for an Analogue Tuner and HD-PVR

My current setup includes a PVR-500 and a HD-PVR.

I just finished setting up my new HD-PVR so I now have 3 tuners listed in Sage, 2 for the PVR-500 and one for the HD-PVR.

I use the PVR-500 for all my analogue channels and am going to use the HD-PVR for all the digital and HD channels. The HD-PVR seems to be working but what i'm confused about is how to setup the channels. Does each tuner have it's own channel listing or is it a "universal" list that they all share.

Do I:

1) Enable all the analogue channels for the PVR-500 and disable the digital and HD ones?

Then

2) Enable all the Digital and HD channels for the HD-PVR and disable all the analogue ones?

Or will Sage just know which tuner does what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used one lineup from Comcast (Comcast basic) and enabled all the analogs for one of my dual tuners. For the HD-PVR I actually picked a neighboring zip and used a comcast lineup from a different city knowing the programming was just the same. I enabled all the stations above 125 that were HD. I didn't want the HD-PVR spending any time recording SD staions that are digital. I also have a HDHR that uses the extended listing of Comcast from my zip and just enabled the ClearQAM stations (about 14 total stations) which is mostly the local HD stations. It all shows up in one EPG.

If you use the same lineup name for all tuners, they will share which channels are disabled & enabled.

You can choose a provider from a nearby area as Gerry mentioned, or you can choose to copy a lineup so you have the same channels to choose from on both tuners, but the enabled/disabled settings will not be shared. Version 6.5 makes it easier to use a copy of a lineup. (The Program Guide will still merge the same-named stations to be listed only once.)

Thanks for the info guys. I'm using 6.5 so i'll try to copy the lineup. If it doesn't go as planned i'll use Gerry's method.

Ok, new problem.

I used the same lineup for both tuners on the PVR-500 (basic analog service) and a different lineup (based on Digital service) for the HD-PVR. So I have a total of three tuners available.

The problem is I have one tuner (PVR-500) recording a show and then I go to watch live TV, either an Analog channel or a HD Channel and it says "watch selected show and cancel current recording" which shouldn't come up as I still have 1 analog tuner on the PVR-500 and the HD-PVR still available. Any ideas?

Make sure the PVR500 is using the latest drivers. Did you reboot the server after configuring everything? And do all the tuners show up correctly in Device Manager?

I'm using the latest drivers and all show up in the device manager but I did not restart the server. I'll try that when I get home tonight.

If the same-named stations are merged, and I want to view the LiveTV from either the guide or the remote, how do I set the preference for which tuner displays? If there is a digital source available, I don't want to watch on the analog tuner.

First, higher quality tuners are automatically preferred.

Second, you can use the mmc/encoders/<some number>/encoder_merit properties to give a higher value to the tuners that should have a higher preference. This is not a guaranteed preference order, but comes into play when all other scheduling choices are equal.
