configure output as transport stream?
Is there a way to configure SageTV to output the .mpg from my HDHR as a transport stream (instead of program stream)?
Running 6.5.9 |

Changing this to false should do it...
mmc/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=true |

Out of curiosity, why do you want to do that?

I want to do it because the .mpg recorded (in program stream) do not playback on third party players correctly (i.e. WMP and VLC).
They will probably if the stream is a transport stream... my sage.properties (6.5.9) does not have the "mmc/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=" parameter in it by default. I assume the new version will still honor the flag? |

look for the encoder itself in the properties file and see if encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream is available on that.
i'm going to try changing to transport streams myself. as you said, there are issues currently with the program stream and other programs that try to read it. for me, some compression/conversion utilities (like mencoder) do not like the program stream currently produced and choke on it, claiming corrupted data. We'll see if transport streams are any better.

I see what you are saying about each tuner having its own configurable property.
do you think the mmc/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream acts as a default or override? Or do I need to configure each tuner? |

I'll be curious if you have any success, I tried recording a few shows as transport streams last night and the (non-SageTVTranscoder/ffmpeg) conversions still failed. It must be something inherent in the way Sage and the HDHR create the file.
