WINTV HVR-1600 and HVR-1800
Hi. I have HVR-1600 and HVR-1800 that records only in mpeg, the quality is very good at about 5.9GB/hour.
Is it possible to record in better quality mpeg4 or h264 with these tv tuner cards and if so how? I have searched but cannot find any solutions. Thanks |

Are you recording standard-definition TV or high-definition TV? The HVR tuner cards include a hardware mpeg2 encoder for standard definition analog TV. If you want to record mpeg4 files, you have you record in mpeg2, then transcode it into mpeg4. As for high-definition TV, the HVRs basically just record the raw digital feed, which is mpeg2. Again, to do anything else you have to record in mpeg2 and transcode to something else.

I am recording in high definition and it records in mpeg2. Can I automatically record in mpeg4 or h264 format? What is a good software for transcoding from mpeg2 to mpeg4?
Thank you! |
