Problems with WinTV-HVR-1800

I’m using the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 PCIe hybrid TV tuner for analog and QAM from a cable system..

When adding video sources, if I add the analog tuner first and then the digital tuner, both tuners find their respective channels during the channel scans. When I go to tune channels (such as from “Watch Live TV” or the “Program Guide”) all analog channels work correctly but digital channels do not. It appears Sage is trying to tune the digital channels with the analog tuner because I receive only analog audio/video noise.

If I add the digital tuner first and then the analog tuner, both tuners find their respective channels during the channel scans. When I go to tune channels, all digital channels work correctly it appears Sage is trying to tune the analog channels with the digital tuner. I receive either nothing or random digital channels repeated on the analog channel numbers.

I have to admit that I am new to Sage and in fact new HTPCs in general so I am at a bit of a handicap but this seems to me to be a bug with the support for this new tuner card.

Any thoughts?

I am very curious why you are seeing that behavior, and wish I had an answer for you. I have 2 HVR-1800s, and have not experienced what you are referring to. The only thing that might stick out is if you are using two EPGs (1 for the analog and 1 for the digital). I am using different EPGs for my Analog, Digital, and my STB. I am also running Sage 6.2.10 and Java 6.2, and I am using encoder_merit, but even before that I did not notice or experience what you are seeing.

Hope this helps,
Protoman
