Need help configuring extender
Hi,
I just got my HD200 yesterday and while it plays fine in standalone mode, I have been unsuccessful in getting it setup as an extender. I'm running windows xp service pack 3. I created a user acount and password in xp as stated. I added that user account name and password in the server setup screen of Sage. I added the ports to windows firewall. Not sure if I did this correctly, I'd appreciate if someone could step me thru it. I added descriptions of SageTv Server and then the port # and TCP. I tried putting the import directories in sage using UNC paths. Is there somewhere else I need to modify this also? Lets start with that and see if I get any farther. Thanks, Dan |

There isn't a username + password configuration needed for the HD200. Your HD200 should have come with a printed manual that mentions how to connect to a SageTV server, on p. 2. Or, see Appendix M of the SageTV PDF manual in your SageTV directory for more details. In short: you need to enable the SageTV server and the media extender server in Detailed Setup -> Server. It isn't clear to me from your post whether you've done that.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the response. I did enable the server and the extender at the sage setup screen. The menu states enable the placeshifter server and the media extender then there are two configuration items for the placeshifter. Reading about that is where I found the information to setup a username and password. Maybe that doesn't apply and I should leave those setup boxes alone. Dan |

Update.....I got it working. I went back into the standalone screen to the page that shows the server. It was listed, the check box in the bottom corner to connect was checked. I saw my server name listed. I was able to navigate and get that server name highlighted and I clicked on the enter button and viola.....it took me to the sage screen. If I missed how to do that in the manual or in the FAQ area I apologize. I thought I was trying to bootup straight into the normal sage extender window. Woohoo now to try it out for a bit.
