Question Edit .ts files from HDPVR

I can't quite figure out where to put this, so mods, i apologize in advance if it's the wrong section, but i put it here as it's relevant to a hardware issue i'm trying to resolve with Hauppauge and I didn't really see a better fitting forum.

That being said, Hauppauge has asked me to send them a 5 minute clip of one of my recordings that has had audio dropout problems. The issue is that it happens randomly, so I can't just record any 5 minute clip cause it probably won't happen until 10-40 minutes into a recording, and I doubt they want me to up them a 2.8gb file to their ftp server for analysis. I'd like to know if there's a utility to literally cut a chunk from a specified time to a specified time without converting the file? I'd like to preserve the format best as possible. I would imagine that the comskip people might be able to shed some light on this, but I don't know if they are transcoding the file and then cutting, or cutting the actual .ts file itself.

I'm a computer tech, so i can handle pretty well anything that you guys can suggest, but google doesn't seem to offer much insight other than conversion programs so I'm asking here.

thanks

I found this on another forum...don't know the programs myself but thought I'd throw it out there. I may want to play with some of the .ts files myself someday. Maybe one of them can what ya want.

There are several 'Must Have' apps for TS files -

DGIndex - 'Nuff Said

MPEG2Repair - Great at fixing 'broken' TS files.

ProjectX - (install the compiled version from here - http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101194 ) Much better than PVAStrumento for Transport Stream files.

MPG2Cut2

AC3 Cutter and/or AC3 Delay Corrector

ok, so after spending about the last 2 hours searching on google, I think I've found a program that does what I want. it's called H.264 TS Cutter v.111. It's not available from the dev's website, as it would appear that he/she has abandoned it. I searched for a zip and found it. Once downloaded, I found that I needed to have arcsoft's TME installed (installed it from the HD-PVR disc) so it could preview the files, and I had to change some options on the advanced tab to cutin frame type to I-Frame, and cutout frame type to B-Frame. Once i did this, it worked like a charm, even in VMWare on my macbook.

I've attached the app to this post.

if you want to edit HDPVR files just get TMPGEnc 4.0 Express. It works with both .TS and .M2TS files that the HDPVR saves out. And then it allows you to save to any format you want. They have a trial version that you could try out.

with these other free programs you basically get what you pay for. some of them work but it's takes a lot of work. I just went ahead and spent the $99.95. It was well worth the money.

The link above takes me to a message at doom9.org with another link. The link in that message doesn't work - it is just a blank page. I didn't find the compiled version anywhere else. Can you provide any other links or pointers?
