What's a Tivo?

Sorry if this has been posted before. I couldn't resist...

I now understand why Tivo is as successful as it is. It's their marketing!

Surely SAGE can come up with something as good

Mick.

He he, funny.

On a more serious note, I clicked on this topic because I've never owned a Tivo. I've never owned a DVR of any kind except Sage. Honestly, I wouldn't know how they worked unless I played with one a bit.

I went straight from VCR to Sage. No Tivo experience in the middle.

valnar, you are not alone! I also went straight from VCR to PC for my recordings.

I went from vcr, to tivo version one (fell in love with tivo) to tivohd for directv (still loved tivo) then directv bricked my $1k tivo by adding mpeg 4 channels. Went to Media center and just started sage about a month ago

all in all each progression got better meaning my opinion

vcr<tivo<tivohd<media center<SAGETV!!!

I also went from VCR to Tivo (which worked very nice) to MCE 2005 and then to SageTV. I avoided the Vista MCE version. I never really liked it.

The thing I like most about MCE was its picture rendering and conflict resolution.

I use Sonos to handle all my music needs since MCE and SageTV sucks for this in comparison.

Over all SageTV works very well for me but could use a bit better eye candy and picture handling.
