Sage TV with Comcast Digital Cable
Hi all,
I have been using Sage for 3 or so years now with Analog cable. Comcast is about to switch to Digital cable. What hardware works best for non HDTV digital and will I have to upgrade Sage? Hauppage has a couple of good boxes but I dont see them on Sages web site. I hate to give up the flexibility of Sage. Thank you. |

There is another forum post regarding the pure digital switch over of comcast. I believe the HDHomeRun has a solution. Head over to their forum also to read up on the latest.

Quick answer is this, I finished doing this within the last month.
Get SiliconDust HDHomeRun. Get from Comcast your free Pace DTA, set it up, but don't plan to actually use it to watch TV. Instead use the diagnostic screen functions of the DTA to display all of the clear QAM channel frequencies, logical channel numbers that match the Zaptoit guide, etc. This really helps to set up your HDHomeRun. Go to HDHomeRun Sage forums to see some recent discussion about setting up with Sage. This combination works great, you will get all the channels you got with Comcast analog and then some, you will never look back. I'm not worried about Comcast eventually encrypting these channels, they have too much invested in this DTA program and the business about the FCC changing the rules is very doubtful. I had been using a PVR 500, this setup is much better. |
