Handbrake 4:3 displaying as 16:9 on HD200

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can tell me why my 4:3 DVD movie is playing back at 16:9 on my 16:9 TV (No pillar boxing). There should be pillar boxing since I'm playing a 1.33 movie (Casper) on a 16:9 display.

I tried two ways in Handbrake 0.9.3:
1. Anamorphic = none
2. Anamorphic = Strict

Both get displayed on my 16:9 TV with no pillar boxing.
TV aspect setting = Full
SageTV aspect setting = source

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Are you running Sage on PC client or an extender?

Try switching to some other aspect ratio, and then back to source. There is a bug in the Extender that stretches out 4:3 source material (basically the "FILL" effect) but still says that it's using source.

btl.

How consistent is that bug? I have an HD100, and I don't think I've had problems playing back 4:3 TV episodes encoded using Handbrake.

I'll do some more tests when I get home tonight.

I see it the most when playing back DVD rips. For a DVD rip that I shrank down with Handbrake I don't see the issue as often.

Ahh, I think I've seen that problem (or a similar one). Except, in my case, I didn't think it was stretched, but rather the HD100 zoomed in on the video and menus. Cycling through the aspect ratio modes did fix it though, as you suggested. I worked with Sage on the issue a little bit, and we all basically convinced ourselves that it was probably a problem with the DVD and not the HD100 because it happened consistently with some rips, and wouldn't happen with others. Have you contacted Sage?

I've done some more playing around with this...

On High definition TV shows (16:9), I get pillar and letterbox. If I flip through the Video outputs it eventually shows properly (no pillar and no letterbox).

This seems to happen during commericals.

I plan on doing some more testing when I get a chance.

Is there a setting somewhere that says always have the HD200 ouput the source resolution?
