Sage V5.0.1 - HD PVR - Install order?
Hello -
I finally upgraded my HTPC and bought a HD PVR from Sage. I have a few questions that I cannot find answers to via the search and manuals: 1) Will Sage v5.0.1 work with the HD PVR, it looks like it says versions 5+ will work, but I don't see anything specific telling me how to get TME to work with Sage... Since its an early version of 5x I just want to make sure I'm good to go. 2) Is there a specific order to installing things? I have a nVidia 9500 GT card and plan to purchase PureVideo to get the most out of the card. Is the order of installing products important? First SageTV, second HD PVR/TME, third nVidia PureVideo? Thanks for any advice, right now I have a fresh XP SP2 install ready to go and I just want to make sure I do things in the best possible way from the start. |

You're going to need to upgrade to the latest version of Sage (6.5) to get HD-PVR functionality.

Technically it was added with 6.4.X, but you are correct it won't work with 5.X.

Thanks for the replies. I will upgrade to 6.5 tonight
What about install order? Does it matter? Will using PureVideo HD still help me out in getting a good picture quality from the H.264 files the HD-PVR will be creating? Thanks for the help! |

nVidia Purevideo decoder only decodes mpg2 files (not h.264) and can take advantage of acceleration on your video card. nVidia refers to PureVideo HD as those hardware accelerations that are on their video cards. Arcsoft TME would be used for your h.264 recordings from an HD-PVR. This too can take advantage of hardware acceleration on select video cards. (And Arcsoft can also decode mpg2 files) Confused enough?
