New install, tuner setup order question

I am setting up a new sage install (converting from beyondtv)

Tuners:
wintv-hvr-1600 - QAM and analog
ati 650 - analog and fm
hdtv wonder - ota and software analog
ati x600 all-in-wonder - analog and fm

I would like the merit to be

1. QAM
2. ota
3. ati 650 analog
4. hvr-1600 analog
5. x600 analog
6. hdtv wonder analog

If possible i would also like channel 4 (fox) to only show up once in the guide, regardless of whether it is qam, ota, or analog (easier WAF)

is this possible? and what order should i set the tuners up in?

thanx

Jeff

You can do encoder_merit settings, but that appears to just set the preference for the entire tuner, not per input on the tuner.

If, when you set up all your tuners and the matching EPG lineups, you have matching channel names, then the matching channels will be consolodated show that it only shows once in the guide, the way you want it.

YOu could do some remapping, but I'd recommend against that. Those are different channels, ABC is an SD analog channel, and ABCDT is a digital channel with SD and HD content. With you being able to record QAM and OTA digital, you want to be able to specifically tune into the digital channel.

Sage takes into account what shows are avialable in HD and will prefer to record from the HD channel when it can. That HD preference will naturally make the QAM and OTA tuners more "popular" to Sage, so you may be able to set some encoder_merit rules to meritize the analog tuners in the order you want them to be use. I think that even with that set, the QAM and OTA tuners will be preferred when there is recordable HD content.

Okay i got it, thanks for all your help on christmas eve

I will just hav eto get the wife out of the habit of creating manual recordings on a channel (which would not work with 2 channels , one sd and one hd) and have her record by show instead. That way highest merit will go to QAM.

Happy holidays
