Hardware install order
My WHS is up and going. No peripherals installed yet. However, before I install SAGE, I want to make sure I install all peripherals accordingly. What is the correct order, and any sage advice?
Thanks! Things to install: Avast anti-virus WinTV 150 card HD Homerun USB UIRT HD-PVR Comcast STBs by firewire |

Recommendations:
1. I don't run anti-virus on the WHS server. Firewalls protect it and it only goes out for guide updates. SageTV is all I run on there. (My dev PC has AV) 2. I'm pretty sure it's not going to matter the order you install the Windows drivers for these devices. I would probably install USB_UIRT windows drivers, PVR-150 drivers HD Homerun, complete with channel scan from their app. HD-PVR drivers and Total Media. (Use the app to confirm it is working and if you want to set it to use hardware decoding.)I would probably reboot after installing the drivers to be on the safe side before I test it to make sure they work and they appear OK in Device Manager. 3. Firewire channel changing. My comcast (HD) doesn't have firewire. (One of their first boxes) so I haven't pursued this. This will probably be your biggest challenge. There's a whole, long thread but I believe a recent update or a sticky is available that makes it a little easier. Since you have a USB-UIRT I would forego the firewire channel changing for the time being and set up all the rest in Sage after confirming all the devices work from Windows. Use the USB-URIT to blast the channel changes for the HD-PVR to your STB and setup the guide with all your HD channels EXCEPT the clearQAM stations which will be handled by the HD-Homerun. Setup the PVR-150 with a direct cable connection and another lineup for your analog stations. (I have a dual-tuner which would be better for this). So for my Comcast line I chose my zip and basic for my analog cards. My zip and Extended digital for the HD-Homerun and clear QAM (HD locals like ABC, NBC, etc.) and a neighboring zip and Extended digital for the HD-PVR which gets channels above 99 and all the HD channels EXCEPT the clear QAM. Those are disabled. Other suggestion: Read the SageTV manual. It came with your download or get it from the website. If you read something you don't understand check the forums. Only after that little exercise should you start the SageTV install. (There's not alot of WHS specifc install instructions because it installs just like a WHS app from the software folder. )Any PC Client accessing Sage you should make sure that same user ID also exists on the WHS server.
