changed to wired network; now need firewall off on server?

We'd been using our HD Theater as an extender via a wireless network. Actually the server was networked wirelessly, the HD Theater was always hardwired on the network.

I suspected the wireless on the server side was a bottleneck (and it look slike that was so) so I added a new branch to our network and hooked up the server.

Now I can not get the extender to find the Sage server unless I disable the Vista firewall on the server OS. I think I had done as much as possible to let Sage operate through the firewall: an exception for sage, opneing ports in both the firewall and router, etc. We've done multiple reboots of the sever, the router, and the extender.

Is there something I'm forgetting or overlooking?

The SageTV installer configures the firewall when you install Sage. But if you had no wired network on the server then, it may not have been configured correctly for that NIC. Try running the installer again now that the wired connection is in place to see if that fixes it. No need to uninstall, just reinstall over top of your existing setup (but make a backup first just in case).

Okay; backup means copy the sagetv/sagetv folder, right? Easy enough. Thanks. I'll try that when I get home.

That seems to have fixed it. Thank you.
