Problem - SageTV, Girder, USB-UIRT, Vista

I hesitate cross posting to different discussion groups but this problem is really buggin'.

I built a new Vista 64 bit Media Center. I have installed the latest builds of Girder 5 and SageTV server 6.5.9. SageTV is running as a service and Girder is run at startup. UAC is turned off.

I setup SageTV to natively use the USB-UIRT and any remote. Girder uses the UIRT to control my receiver. Girder also controls the lights via X10. That's where the problem comes in. I thought that everything was working until I sat down to watch a recorded show. The UIRT had not changed the channel on the STB. I found out that if I exit Girder the channel changing is working fine. If I start Girder no channel changing.

Does SageTV ignore UIRT commnads if another program is also using the URIT? Is Girder somehow taking total control of the USB-UIRT? I looked at the UIRT configuration and I do not see anywhere to specify allow pass-through. The UIRT has (until now) accepted commands from multiple sources.I had a similar setup before but on W2003 using Girder 4 and Beyond TV 4.9. Everything worked then.

I tried to Watch Live TV with Girder running. Using my keyboard, I tried to change the channel. The viewing screen changed to interlaced lines, the audio confirmed that no station change had occurred. I then tried the same with Girder turned off. The channel changed correctly. Something is going on with the UIRT while Girder is on but what? I then scheduled a recording with a channel change and left Girder off. That worked fine. Very nice recording quality BTW. Can anyone give me some ideas (or a solution) on how to trouble shoot this problem? My guess is the first thing to do is try to change live TV and check Girder to determine what it "saw". Does SageTV keep a log file?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Search for multitunerpluginexe you need to configure it to ask Girder to change the channels rather then directly interfacing the USBUIRT. It'll take some time but works fine in the end. Plus you can do other things with custom channels if you choose to in the future.

You should check out EventGhost. I found it to be more reliable and easier to configure than Girder. I basically abandoned my $60 Girder license. EG is freeware btw.
