Choppy video with HD200
Hi,
I'm trying to get an HD-200 system set up for OTA TV. I'm having a lot of trouble with un-watchably choppy (pixellated video, choppy sound) output, worse on some stations (possibly the ones with higher quality?) than others. Tuner: HD HomeRun. All stations show good signal--some of the choppier ones if anything have better signal than the less-choppy ones. All stations play perfectly well if VLC is used to view them directly on the SageTV server machine. Server: SageTV service is running on a low-horsepower machine (Atom processor, integrated video, 1Gb memory). Taxing the machine does not seem to be an issue, however, as CPU loads are reasonable even with something else going on in the foreground. Using SageTV directly on the server, however, produces pixellated output just as on the HD-200. DVR: 500 Gb hard drive on a NAS box running FreeNAS. HD-200: output via HDMI -> DVI-D to a widescreen monitor, not a TV. All are connected via LAN (fast Ethernet, not gigabit), wired rather than wireless. I got the media extender specifically to avoid problems with video cards, decoders, etc., but apparently it's not as runs-right-out-of-the-box as it appears? Many thanks for any suggestions as to what settings or changes might make this workable.... --Jon |

What version of Sage and HDHR drivers are you running? You'll need to be running the latest version of Sage along with the latest version of the HDHR drivers. And no-you won't be able to play Sage HD recordings on the server with an Atom cpu and integrated video.

Not worried about that; given the HD200, I figured I could go with a small, QUIET computer to use as an extra Web browser etc. and keep the Sage server off my main machine. Just noting that HD200 gives same results as direct from the server in case that suggests some setting I might've messed up. |
