Choppy Video

I have a very very stable, useable install now - using the latest beta, HD PVR with their latest drivers - recording HD in 5.1, SD on non-HD programs and it is great.

However, the only bad thing I have is when I leave watching live TV (DirecTV), go back to the Sage TV main menu, then go back to watching live TV - the video is choppy - the audio is OK but the video stutters. I quit Sage and reload at it is back to being great. It will stay choppy until I restart Sage.

My troubleshooting yields:
a) As long as I stay in live TV, no problems - I can change stations, record, move from HD -> Std stations and do not see any problems at all.
b) As soon as I leave live TV and go into Sage menus, then go back to live TV, video is choppy until I restart Sage (I don't need to restart the computer, just Sage). By Choppy I mean it will play, pause, play, pause, play- audio doesn't chop or stutter - seems fine. Changing channels doesn't stop the chop.

Using XP SP3 with all the updates - quad core Intel, ATI HD 48 series video card. HD PVR (C2 series), latest beta drivers, Snapstream remote, change DirecTV using blaster - system only has Sage, no other apps running.

What you may want to try is a setting for delaying the time to start recording. I don't recall exactly what it is but most people will set it for 4000. What this does is allow the channel to change and give the HD-PVR a chance to figure out what exactly is the resolution source before it starts recording. That may be your issue.

EDIT: Here it is:
Quote:
mmc/encoders/-290412421/delay_to_wait_after_tuning=0
The number represents your encoder (tuner) so pick the right one.
