sage newbie: recording OTA HD at top (raw?) quality?

I'm just getting started with Sage. I can record OTA HD via the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 in my PC, but I want to make sure that I'm recording at the absolute best quality being transmitted. (I don't care about file size, quality is the key for certain shows.)

I also have an HDHomeRun than I haven;t installed yet.

What are my best options/settings to record OTA HD?

no options. digital recording = recording the digital stream. There is no "transcoding" or anyting else occuring that would affect it.

Playback is a different story, depending on your setup.

Playback did seem better under VMC; I'll check my options when I get home.

I did figure out how to get Dolby Digital audio output already, so I hope I can figure out which video playback will be best.

There are lots of threads here on getting playback to look good. I use an extender, so I can't really help there. Look (=search) around, and you should be able to get some hints.
