Issue with using MCE remote with the HD200

Hello,
Background Info: I was very happy to see that the HD200 eventually got the ability to use the MCE remote. I have used this ever since I created my first HTPC using XP MCE2005 and am very used to it. Once I moved to SageTV from MCE2005 I was still able to use the MCE remote using the included blaster that came with the remote. All I had to do was go to the remote configuration setup and select MCE Remote. Every button was mapped according to the way I expected it. Once I got my first extender, HD200, I was looking for this on it as well. However, it was not there. I had to manually map the preset defined functions for SageTV to the corresponding remote button.

My issue: If I play a ripped DVD in the Video_TS format and want to use the skip button a weird thing happens. It brings up a menu at the top of the screen which contains the following controls: Audio, Subtitles off, Aspect ratio, and normal rewind, play, pause, fast forward buttons. It does not skip at all. I can navigate those buttons but pressing the fast forward button does nothing. If I do this with my server and the MCE remote, it would skip ahead just like normal. By the way, the skip feature works correctly for recorded TV, just not ripped DVD's, on my HD200.

So, what do I need to do to make this work as expected? Why doesn't the extender give you the option just like the server does to use the MCE remote and don't have to map the buttons?

Please advise since using the HD200 for DVD playback is not working for me if I want to skip and make the WAF very low at the moment.

Thanks,
Chuck

You are using SageMC and that is how it functions. If you look carefully as you press the OSD ff button it will change from 2x to 4x to 8x. That being said, remap your remote buttons to the skip functions and see if that fixes it.

Gerry,
Thaks for your quick reply. I am indeed using SageMC. However, if I press the OSD ff button it will change it from 2x to 4x but it doesn't actually skip. It locks up the video and I have to manual unplug the HD200 to get it to play right again. Sorry that I didn't mention this earlier but I do have the "skip" button on my MCE remote to the "skip fwd/page right" control. I couldn't find a better options to use. To be clear, I do have SageMC on my server to, however, when I press the skip button on my remote the OSD does not come up and it does skip correctly. Now, if I press the FWD button on my remote on my server, the OSD does come up but I do not have to use the OSD controls to get it to do smooth fast forwarding. I hope this made sense and someone can help.

I will test this out on the stock STV to see if it locks up the same way or if it is just a SageMC issue. However, I do not want to get rid of SageMC.

Thanks,
Chuck

Go into Settings-SageMC-Main-Screen Specifc Options-Video OSD-Default DVD FF/REW and change to enable. This will then operate like the default STV.

Gerry,
Thanks, that stopped the freezing up. It did make it better but not exactly like it works on the server. I first thought the server was just skipping ahead the amount of time I had set when I hit the skip button but what it was actually doing was skipping to the next chapter. That is what I would like for it to do. Also, I do not have that set up on the server like you mentioned, it is set to disabled. So, it still doensn't work exactly like the server does. Is there a way to get it to? Again, why is there no selection on the extender to use the MCE remote like the server has? I would think that if it did, it would make it behave the same and make me not have to map the buttons to three different HD200's.

Sorry for the ranting.

Thanks,
Chuck
