NBC master feed audio
I have a 10 foot cband dish connected to Sage using the MyTheater network encoder. I'm trying to get the NBC master feeds on AMC18 working properly with my extender in time for the game tomorrow. The video works fine, but my problem is with the audio. The feeds all have 4 audio tracks. The tracks appear to have different parts of the 5.1 sound. When I watch a football game, I can listen to the announcers if I select one track but I can't hear the stadium noises or the referee when he makes a call. The stadium noises are on another track, but on that one I can't hear the announcers. The information for the feed when looking at the recording detail screen is as follows:
Format: MPEG2-TS[h.264 1080i, MP2/384Kbps@48kHz Stereo aaa, MP2/384Kbps@48kHz Stereo aac, MP2/384Kbps@48kHz Stereo aae, MP2/384Kbps@48kHz Stereo aag Does anybody know a way that I can make all 4 audio tracks active at the same time? Thanks, Mike |

Anything in the MyTheater which will mux the tracks together for you?

Can't think of a way to do this live. Post, you could mix and remux them, but I don't know of a method of doing this during live playback. Perhaps building a custom graph in graphedit with the multiple tracks going to multiple audio renderers MIGHT work, but that's just a hairbrained guess...

Not that I'm aware of. MT sees each track but it won't let me select more than one at a time. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I haven't had a chance to look into it yet. I'll probably be taking a look this weekend though. I may just strip the audio track off the OTA broadcast and add it to the video from the satellite feed.
The video off the master was awesome though. It's amazing how much quality is lost when the local stations recompress the signal. I think the mpeg 2 signal coming from my local NBC station generated a file that was about the same size as the mpeg4 that NBC broadcast. I'm not sure how the compression ratios compare, but I'd guess the master has roughly double the bit rate of the local. I'd also guess the master signal is built with better compression hardware too. |
